Quick Domain Name Tips

  • As a general rule, the simpler the name is to remember, speak, and type, the better. However, selecting an ideal domain name is often easier said than done and can still be quite challenging.
  • Don't fall for the .co, .net, .us, .cc, or other top level domain marketing that's going around; these are not usually a good idea. You want to register a solid .com if you want to really be serious about web presence and internet marketing.
  • Also, the use of hyphens (-) is not usually recommended, though can be used to your advantage if you understand how the search engines think.
  • Finally, be wary of copyright infringement; the keys here are to 1.) make sure you're not trying to feed off the popularity of some other individual or company, and 2.) do as much research as you can prior to selecting a domain.
  • The #1 tip I recommend is to start out by speaking with me concerning your need for a domain. I'll be happy to make expert recommendations and try to steer you around the pitfalls.
